America Says Hello, 2015

“America Says Hello” is a long term project in which custom software running on a server automatically dials every single number in the United States of America once.

When the calls are answered the call recipient hears only silence.

The calls are streamed to a website where the attempted calls, and occasional answered calls, can be listened to in real time.

Below is a video demo of the project. The actual project is was* live at www.americasayshello.org.

The project has been show at ICA Miami and at Mana Wynwood as part of the III Points Festival of Music, Art and Technology.

*the project was archived after one year as the Twilio + server fees were (sadly) unsustainable.
